Hypnosis & Age
Great news! You are never too old to be hypnotized!
What’s the youngest you can be hypnotized?
Based on Kappasinian Hypnosis, the critical mind develops by seven years old. This is when kiddos start to figure out the difference between what fairy tales adults have provided them versus reality. So, the recommendation is 7 or 8 and older according to those educated by the Hypnosis Motivation Institute.
However, there are sources that do hypnosis with younger children because they are highly suggestible. It becomes highly rare for children 6 years old. Do your research on your hypnotherapist and ask questions.
Can hypnosis help with aging?
Absolutely! It helps with:
Chronic Pain Management
Pre and Post Surgery Recovery
Sleep and Anxiety
Mood Improvement
Acceptance
Grief
Cognitive Function
Menopause Symptoms
And more
Of course, elderly clients with severe cognitive function should not be hypnotized - such as dementia, delirium, dissociation, or anyone with hallucinations.
Here is a great article from the American Council of Hypnotist Examiners that elaborates on the impact hypnosis can have on aging clients.
