Self-Hypnosis

Self-Hypnosis - to do or not to do?

Most hypnotherapists highly recommend this absolutely amazing tool.

I will not being discussing a how-to but am addressing - should i?

Self-hypnosis is about reinforcing positive thoughts, affirmations, mantras, suggestions to yourself - a great way to fortify intentions and anchors between sessions.

So, the warning is to only do it ONLY when you in a completely positive mindset.

“Doubt is a form of self-suggestion that undermines the creation of a new reality.” - Hypnosis Training Academy

Why?

The point of this is to change negative thoughts and feelings and shift them to more  empowering ones.

You are correct!

But, if you are having doubt, maladaptive self-talk, depressive, and pessimistic thoughts and feelings - YOU DO NOT WANT TO ACCIDENTALLY REINFORCE THOSE!

Because, are brains want to go the easiest path, which could be the unfavorable beliefs and habits you are working on changing, you may focus on those rather than the more confident ones you are creating.

Personally, I do not recommend self-hypnosis to my clients until a few sessions in, discussing this, and letting them decide based on their resolve.

So, what to do instead when feeling down?

Listen to a recording of a previous session, do a visualization exercise, journal, or practice one of the many other tools in your brand new dynamic toolbox!
